Jordan Bly WR | NYG
Jordan Bly: Waived by Giants
New York waived Bly on Friday, Dan Salomone of the team's official site reports.
Bly signed with the Giants in April after going undrafted out of Gardner-Webb, but he won't make the team's initial 53-man roster. If New York is interested in continuing Bly's development, however, he could get a chance on the team's practice squad.

Montrell Washington WR | NYG
Montrell Washington: Hits waivers Friday
The Giants waived Washington on Friday, Dan Salomone of the team's official site reports.
Washington spent the entire offseason with New York, so he could be a candidate to resurface on the team's practice squad. The 2022 fifth-round pick spent most of last year on the Chiefs' practice squad and suited up for one regular-season game with the team.

Zach Pascal WR | NYG
Zach Pascal: Let go by G-Men
New York released Pascal on Friday, Dan Salomone of the team's official site reports.
Pascal inked a one-year contract with the Giants back in March, but he won't make the team's initial 53-man roster. The veteran wideout is an experienced depth option, having suited up for all 17 regular-season games with the Cardinals last season, though he wasn't targeted. That gives him a solid chance to resurface in a reserve role at some point this season, whether in New York or with another club.

Phil Lutz WR | NE
Phil Lutz: Caught up in roster cuts
The Patriots waived Lutz on Friday, Evan Lazar of the Patriots' official site reports.
Lutz inked with New England in mid-August to provide the team some depth at wideout during the preseason, but he never had a realistic chance to make the 53-man roster. The undrafted rookie out of Delaware will likely need to hone in on practice squads around the league in order to find an opportunity in the NFL this season.

Efton Chism III WR | NE
Patriots' Efton Chism: Misses Thursday's game
Chism (foot/ankle) didn't play in Thursday's preseason finale against the Giants.
Chism missed practice time this week, but provided his injury issue doesn't linger, the rookie UDFA out of Eastern Washington appears to be in a solid spot in terms of making the Patriots' initial 53-man roster. Added context on that front will arrive no later than next week, when roster cuts/moves occur league-wide.

Kyle Williams WR | NE
Patriots' Kyle Williams: Held out of Thursday's game
Williams (undisclosed) didn't play in Thursday's preseason finale against the Giants.
Williams missed practice time this week due to an undisclosed issue, but he likely wouldn't have played in any case Thursday as the Patriots rested key players with an eye toward giving those competing for depth slotting the bulk of the snaps versus New York. Assuming he resumes practicing in short order, Williams is destined to secure a role in the Patriots offense out of the gate this season, but it may take some time before the 2025 third-rounder sees steady volume in a wideout corps that also includes Stefon Diggs (knee), DeMario Douglas, Kayshon Boutte and Mack Hollins.
-
Stefon Diggs WR | NE
Patriots' Stefon Diggs: Doesn't see preseason action
Diggs (knee) didn't play in Thursday's preseason finale against the Giants.
Diggs, who continues to bounce back from a torn ACL that he suffered last October, has been a regular practice participant since avoiding the active/PUP list to begin training camp, but the veteran wideout didn't see any action in either of the Patriots' three exhibition contests this month. While the signs continue to point toward Diggs being able to make a mark early on this season, until or unless the team confirms his Week 1 availability, his status will be worth monitoring ahead of New England's Sept. 7 opener against the Raiders.

Ben Skowronek WR | PIT
Steelers' Ben Skowronek: Minimal playing time Thursday
Skowronek (toe) played two snaps on special teams during Pittsburgh's 19-10 preseason win over the Panthers on Thursday.
Skowronek is back to full health after having sat out the Steelers' second preseason matchup due to a toe injury, but he didn't get any opportunities on offense during the exhibition finale. The 28-year-old wideout is competing to hang on to a reserve role as next week's cut-downs to a 53-man roster approach.
-
Johnny Wilson WR | PHI
Eagles' Johnny Wilson: Placed on IR
The Eagles placed Wilson (knee) on injured reserve Friday, Jeff McLane of The Philadelphia Inquirer reports.
The second-year wideout suffered a season-ending injury to his left knee during practice Tuesday. Wilson previously appeared on track for a depth role, likely standing fourth or fifth on the depth chart at wide receiver. His injury gives recent trade acquisition John Metchie a better chance to make the Week 1 roster.

Adam Thielen WR | PIT
Panthers' Adam Thielen: Vikings interested in reunion
The Panthers have engaged with Minnesota on trade conversations surrounding Thielen, Ben Goessling of The Minnesota Star Tribune reports.
Thielen is currently heading into the final year of his restructured contract with Carolina and weighed the possibility of retirement this offseason, so the 35-year-old could be attracted by the idea of returning to Minnesota, where his NFL career began. The Vikings expect Justin Jefferson (hamstring) to be ready for Week 1, but Jordan Addison (suspension) won't be eligible to play in the first three games of the regular season, Jalen Nailor (hand) and Tai Felton (arm) are currently dealing with injury, and Rondale Moore (knee) is on IR and out for the year. Thielen would still project as a starter if he were to remain with the Panthers, but Carolina has an abundance of depth at wide receiver and could be motivated to allot as many reps as possible to the development of younger players like Xavier Legette and Jalen Coker behind new No. 1 option Tetairoa McMillan (hamstring).
