Patriots' Kyle Williams: Vrabel wants to keep the WR involved
Despite Williams' modest role in training camp to date, coach Mike Vrabel says that the Patriots want to find ways to keep the 2025 third-rounder involved in the offense this season, Zack Cox of the Boston Herald reports.
"I really, really know that Kyle is going to help us," Vrabel noted Friday. "His speed is going to help us...we're going to find ways to get him the ball, and it may be outside of just the normal installation plays." As a rookie, Williams caught 10 of 21 targets for 209 yards and three touchdowns in 17 regular-season contests in 2025, but it's notable that those three scores all came on big plays. For now, Williams seems to be facing an uphill battles in terms of earning steady playing time in a crowded WR room, but if transactions or injuries change the composition of the unit, the Washington State product could make his mark as a complementary target alongside top options A.J. Brown and Romeo Doubs.

Patriots' Kyle Williams: Appears buried on depth chart
Williams ran almost exclusively with the second- and third-team offenses at Monday's practice, Andrew Callahan of the Boston Herald reports.
Callahan noted it appeared Williams was behind all of A.J. Brown, Romeo Doubs, Kayshon Boutte, Mack Hollins, DeMario Douglas and Efton Chism on the wideout depth chart Monday. Williams was a third-round pick last year, but New England has since added Brown and Doubs to the mix, leaving Williams in a fight for playing time. Williams' spot on the roster hasn't been brought into question at this point, but if he's this buried a month from now, it's fair to wonder if the Patriots would be willing to listen to offers for the 23-year-old after he produced just 10 catches for 209 yards and three touchdowns on 21 targets across 17 regular-season appearances as a rookie.

Patriots' Kyle Williams: In mix for snaps behind top WR duo
Once training camp commences, Williams is slated to compete for snaps behind A.J. Brown and Romeo Doubs in three-receiver sets, Evan Lazar of the Patriots' official site reports.
While it's clear that Brown and Doubs are atop the Patriots' WR depth chart, Kayshon Boutte also figures to see his share of work provided he remains with the team, with Williams, Mack Hollins and DeMario Douglas also in the mix for complementary work in a crowded positional group. For now, Williams -- who caught 10 of 21 targets for 209 yards and three touchdowns in 17 regular-season contests in 2025 -- doesn't have a clear path to volume in New England's offense, but the 2025 third-rounder, who's been working to improve his playing strength this offseason, does have the speed to help out as a downfield threat in 2026 when snaps are available.

Patriots' Kyle Williams: Bulked up this offseason
As his second season as a pro approaches, Williams noted Tuesday that he's been working to improve his playing strength, Mark Daniels of masslive.com reports.
To that end, Williams -- who caught 10 of 21 targets for 209 yards and three touchdowns in 17 regular-season contests in 2025 -- said Tuesday that his weight has gone up to 193 pounds after playing at "185 soaking wet" as a rookie. As things stand, Williams is slated to compete for snaps in an already crowded New England WR corps that also includes Romeo Doubs, Kayshon Boutte, Mack Hollins and DeMario Douglas, but there's been plenty of speculation that the team could trade for Philadelphia's A.J. Brown on or after June 1. If that happens, Williams -- who the Patriots took in the third round of the 2025 NFL Draft -- may face a challenging path to steady playing time/targets in 2026.

Patriots' Kyle Williams: Limited production in rookie season
Williams caught 10 of 21 targets for 209 yards and three touchdowns while also registering 290 kickoff-return yards over 17 contests during the 2025 regular season.
Williams spent the majority of his rookie campaign as the team's No. 5 option at wide receiver behind Stefon Diggs, Kayshon Boutte, Mack Hollins and DeMario Douglas. Williams was able to notch only two multi-catch performances while going without a reception in nine games. The wide receiver was able to find the end zone in three separate contests, most notably breaking loose for a 72-yard score in Week 10 against the Buccaneers. The 2025 third-rounder will look to take a step up in his sophomore campaign with New England next year.

Patriots' Kyle Williams: Held without a catch Sunday
Williams was on the field for 22 of 65 snaps on offense in Sunday's 28-16 divisional-round win over the Texans, Mike Reiss of ESPN.com reports, but he failed to catch any of his three targets.
Williams added one kickoff return for 22 yards. Looking ahead, the 2025 third-rounder remains a fantasy dart throw in Sunday's AFC Championship Game against the Broncos due to his limited volume in the Patriots' passing game.
