Kelly Akharaiyi WR | ARI
Kelly Akharaiyi: Dumped by Buffalo
The Bills waived Akharaiyi on Friday, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports.
It's the second time in the last 17 days that Akharaiyi has been cut by Buffalo. The Bills needed the roster spot in order to sign kicker Caden Davis ahead of Saturday's preseason contest against the Giants.

D.J. Montgomery WR | IND
Colts' D.J. Montgomery: No targets in preseason opener
Montgomery was not targeted and did not have a carry in Thursday's preseason loss at Baltimore. He was seen being assisted to the medical tent during the game, Sports Illustrated's Jake Arthur reports.
It's not clear if Montgomery was injured during the game or just wasn't part of the preseason game plan. Either way, it's not a good sign for his chances of making the final roster.

Josh Downs WR | IND
Colts' Josh Downs: Held out of preseason opener
Downs and most other veteran starters didn't play in Thursday's 24-16 preseason loss at Baltimore.
Fellow wideouts Michael Pittman and Alec Pierce also were rested, leaving Adonai Mitchell, Ashton Dulin, Anthony Gould and rookie tight end Tyler Warren as the the top targets for QB Anthony Richardson, who left the game after a handful of snaps due to a finger dislocation on his throwing hand. Richardson should be fine by Week 1, but the QB situation remains a major concern for Downs' fantasy value after his 2024 production was heavily concentrated in the games Joe Flacco played. Daniel Jones, for all his flaws, is a better bet than Richardson to support fantasy-viable pass catchers -- and especially receivers that rely on short-area targets, like Downs and Pittman. The Colts may give their starters some run in the second or third preseason game, although it's unclear if Richardson or Jones will take the QB reps.

Anthony Gould WR | IND
Colts' Anthony Gould: Makes mistakes in preseason opener
Gould had two receptions for 12 yards on four targets in Thursday's preseason loss at Baltimore. He also had a dropped kickoff and two dropped passes, according to James Boyd of The Athletic.
Gould has made a strong impression in training camp and had some nice plays in Thursday's game, but the mistakes probably hurt his chances to have a larger role in the offense.

Ricky White III WR | SEA
Seahawks' Ricky White: Makes one catch Thursday
White (undisclosed) caught his lone target for 14 yards in Thursday's 23-23 preseason tie versus the Raiders.
A rookie seventh-round pick, White missed practice time during the week with an undisclosed injury, but he returned to action in the fourth quarter of Thursday's exhibition game, catching a short pass from fellow rookie Jalen Milroe. With rookie fifth-round pick Tory Horton on track for a roster spot, White is competing with Dareke Young and Cody White for a depth role in the Seattle offense.
-
Cody White WR | SEA
Seahawks' Cody White: No catches in preseason opener
White didn't catch either of his two targets in Thursday's 23-23 tie against the Raiders.
White started the first half with Drew Lock at quarterback but was unable to haul in a pass all game. The 26-year-old wideout played four games with the Seahawks last season and caught two passes (three targets) for 44 yards. He's on the roster bubble this season and is primarily competing with fourth-year wideout Dareke Young and rookie Ricky White.

Dareke Young WR | LV
Seahawks' Dareke Young: One long catch Thursday
Young caught one of three targets for 31 yards in Thursday's 23-23 tie against the Raiders.
Young tied with rookie Tory Horton for a team high in yardage, although Horton was targeted seven times and scored. Heading into the final year of his rookie contract, Young is battling for a depth roster spot, and Horton's emergence in training camp slims those odds. However, Young has consistently reeled in deep balls during training camp, and his willingness to work on special teams could help him land one of the final spots.

Tory Horton WR | SEA
Seahawks' Tory Horton: Adds to camp hype with preseason TD
Horton caught three of seven targets for 31 yards and a touchdown in Thursday's 23-23 preseason tie against the Raiders. He also had a five-yard punt return.
Horton got a steady diet of targets from Drew Lock while the Seahawks rested established starters such as Sam Darnold, Jaxon Smith-Njigba and Cooper Kupp. Horton has frequently joined Smith-Njigba and Kupp with the first-team offense in training camp, and the rookie fifth-round pick kept building momentum with Thursday's performance, which included a 10-yard touchdown catch in the second quarter. Horton may get to play with Darnold in a game situation for the first time in Seattle's next preseason game, Aug. 15 against the Chiefs.
-
Jakobi Meyers WR | JAC
Raiders' Jakobi Meyers: No catches in preseason opener
Meyers didn't catch his only target in Thursday's 23-23 preseason tie against the Seahawks.
New Raiders quarterback Geno Smith played only one drive while some other starters played into the team's second possession. Meyers and Smith will have to wait to register their first connection in an NFL game, but the veteran wide receiver is poised to remain a key component of Vegas' offense come the regular season. Meyers has little to prove in the preseason, but he and the rest of the starters may get more playing time in the team's second preseason game against the 49ers on Aug. 16.

Ashton Dulin WR | IND
Colts' Ashton Dulin: Three receptions in preseason loss
Dulin had three receptions for 54 yards on seven targets in Thursday's preseason loss to Baltimore.
Dulin started at wide receiver with most starters sitting out the game and led the team in receiving yards. Dulin is a key special teams player and has shown a spark at times on offense, but may not get many snaps on offense as the No. 5 wide receiver.
