Smith signed a one-year, $1 million contract with the Blackhawks on Monday, according to Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet.
Smith recorded 11 goals, 20 points, 33 PIM, 51 hits and 30 blocked shots in 75 regular-season games with the Stars in 2023-24. The 34-year-old should serve primarily on the fourth line with Chicago.
