Schmid was recalled from AHL Utica on Saturday.
Schmid was recalled as Mackenzie Blackwood (undisclosed) was injured Thursday against the Oilers and the Devils will need a backup to Vitek Vanecek when they play Calgary on Saturday. Schmid has gone 2-1-1 with a 1.97 GAA and a .918 save percentage for Utica this season.
