Hughes had a goal and an assist in a 4-2 loss to the Hurricanes on Tuesday.
His goal, which was his first of the season, was a beauty. Hughes showed off his speed off the rush and cut in front of defender Brent Burns into the slot before picking the bottom corner with a wrist shot. His assist came on the power play later in the game. Hughes has one goal and four assists in five games this season after delivering 74 in 62 games in an injury-plagued 2023-24. He's focused on breaking the century mark in points this season. His career mark is 99 (2022-23).
