Hughes (shoulder) will be activated off injured reserve and return to action Tuesday versus San Jose.
Hughes hasn't played Oct. 19 due to a shoulder injury, but he was a full participant at Saturday's practice, which was the first indication he might be an option against the Sharks. Hughes, who's picked up two goals and three points through two games this campaign, is expected to skate on New Jersey's top line and first power-play unit Tuesday.
