Zajac will retire as a New Jersey Devil after signing a one-day contract with the club Monday.
Zajac spent 15 years playing for the Devils before being traded to the Islanders at the deadline this past season. Selected by New Jersey with the 20th overall pick in the 2004 NHL Draft, the 36-year-old center racked up 203 goals and 349 assists in 1,037 NHL games plus another 30 points in 71 playoff contests.
