Edstrom will be reassigned to AHL Hartford on Monday, Arthur Staple of The Athletic reports.
Edstrom's stint in the minors is expected to be temporary, as the Rangers are doing some cap gymnastics with their lineup. Don't be surprised to see the Swede recalled ahead of Wednesday's season opener versus the Penguins. He figures to serve in a middle-six role and could even get a look with the No. 2 power-play unit.
