Rangers' Cole Beaudoin: Hopes to make Opening Night roster
Beaudoin said Friday that his goal is to make the Rangers' Opening Night roster ahead of the 2026-27 season, Mollie Walker of the New York Post reports.
Beaudoin was traded to the Rangers from the Mammoth in July, and the 20-year-old has an ambitious goal ahead of training camp after spending all of last year with OHL Barrie, where he recorded 33 goals and 55 points across 54 regular-season appearances. Beaudoin said that he's focused on refining his 200-foot game during the offseason, and the 2024 first-round pick could be in the mix to make his NHL debut during the 2026-27 campaign regardless of whether he's included on the Opening Night roster.

Rangers' Artyom Gonchar: Not cleared for on-ice activities
Gonchar is dealing with an undisclosed injury and hasn't been cleared to be on the ice to begin rookie camp, Mollie Walker of the New York Post reports Friday.
While the exact nature and severity of Gonchar's injury isn't yet clear, he's sidelined for the start of rookie camp despite being present with the team. The 19-year-old made 65 regular-season appearances with OHL Sudbury last year, and he recorded 15 goals, 36 assists and 31 PIM.

Rangers' Aidan Thompson: Dealing with injury
Thompson is dealing with an undisclosed injury and hasn't been cleared to be on the ice for the start of rookie camp, Mollie Walker of the New York Post reports Friday.
Thompson is present for the start of rookie camp, but it's not yet clear when he'll be able to resume on-ice activities. Across 58 regular-season appearances in the AHL between Rockford and Hartford last year, he recorded eight goals, 14 assists and 22 PIM.

Rangers' Eeli Tolvanen: Heading to Big Apple
Tolvanen signed a one-year contract with the Rangers on Wednesday.
According to PuckPedia, Tolvanen's contract is worth $1.5 million. The 27-year-old Tolvanen had 12 goals, 36 points, 30 PIM, 187 hits and 81 blocks in 78 regular-season appearances with Seattle in 2025-26. He's recorded at least 30 points in each of his past four regular seasons, and it wouldn't be surprising if he put up similar production this campaign. He'll probably find himself primarily playing on the third line.

Rangers' EJ Emery: Set for junior year at UND
Emery will be returning to the University of North Dakota for his junior season, per Jim Cerny of NHL.com on Monday.
Emery notched three goals and 10 assists in 38 games for the Fighting Hawks last season, providing some offensive upside that wasn't there during his rookie campaign. Selected by the Rangers in the first round of the 2024 NHL Draft, the 20-year-old blueliner may have to play out his full four years of collegiate elgibility before getting a shot at the NHL roster.

Rangers' Vincent Iorio: Agrees to one-year deal
Iorio signed a one-year contract with the Rangers on Friday.
Iorio was a restricted free agent this summer after completing his entry-level contract. He had three assists, 12 PIM, 15 hits and 39 blocks in 27 regular-season outings between San Jose and the Rangers in 2025-26. When everyone is healthy, Iorio probably doesn't have a regular role among the Rangers' three pairings, so if he makes the NHL squad, it will probably be as the seventh or eighth blueliner on the depth chart.

Rangers' Scott Morrow: Inks two-way deal
Morrow agreed to terms on a one-year, two-way contract with the Rangers on Wednesday.
Morrow played in 29 regular-season games for New York last year, generating six assists and 24 shots without finding the back of the net. At this point, the 23-year-old blueliner faces an uphill battle to secure a spot on the Opening Night roster given the organization's defensive depth.

Trudeau was traded to the Rangers from the Canadiens on June 26, and he reached an agreement on a two-way deal with his new club just over a week later. Cholowski has made 173 regular-season NHL appearances across seven appearances, and he's landed a multi-year deal ahead of the 2026-27 campaign. He made 17 regular-season appearances with the Devils last year, recording two assists and 17 blocked shots while averaging 14:40 of ice time.

Gawdin spent the last two years in the Kings' organization but didn't make an NHL appearance. He totaled 42 goals and 71 assists over 143 AHL regular-season contests with Ontario. Del Gaizo signed a two-year, two-way contract with the Rangers on Wednesday.
Del Gaizo's new deal likely amounts to organizational depth for the Rangers. He spent nearly all of 2025-26 in the AHL with Laval, where he had 27 points in 63 regular-season games. He last played in the NHL in 2024-25, when he logged nine points over 46 outings for the Predators.

Rangers' Marcus Pettersson: Heading to Broadway
Pettersson was traded to the Rangers from the Canucks on Wednesday in exchange for a conditional 2030 first-round pick, Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet reports.
The pick is a top-10 protected selection. Pettersson should occupy a similar role with the Rangers as he did with the Canucks, likely playing second-pairing minutes and some time on the penalty kill. Rangers' Massimo Rizzo: Going to Broadway in trade
The Rangers acquired Rizzo and the No. 148 pick in the 2026 NHL Entry Draft from Nashville on Saturday in exchange for Adam Edstrom.
Rizzo has been traded three times in a span of three-and-a-half months. He went from Philadelphia to Boston on March 6 and was then moved to Nashville six days later. Rizzo appeared in 14 AHL games between Providence and Milwaukee last regular season, supplying two goals and three assists. He also recorded 22 points (six goals, 16 assists) in 29 games for ECHL Reading in the 2025-26 regular season. He's a depth move for the Rangers' system.
