The 26-year-old netminder took a shutout into the third period, but Shane Pinto banged home a rebound midway through the final frame to tie it up before Michael Amadio scored the winner with just over three minutes left. Ellis has started three of the last four games for the Sabres, going 2-1-0 while allowing eight goals on 88 shots (.909 save percentage) as he takes advantage of Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen's struggles this season.
