Toffoli scored a goal on four shots, added a power-play assist, levied two hits and blocked two shots in Thursday's 5-4 overtime loss to the Blues.
Toffoli's goal gave the Sharks a 2-1 lead late in the first period, and he also helped out on a Fabian Zetterlund power-play goal in the second. After signing a four-year deal with San Jose on July 1, Toffoli will put his journeyman stretch on pause to play the role of a veteran leader on a young and rebuilding team. Last year, the winger had 55 points (33 goals, 22 assists) over 79 regular-season contests between the Devils and Jets. That's a reasonable level of production for him to aim for in 2024-25, though the supporting cast around him could make things challenging.
