  • Sven Baertschi: Calls it a career
    By RotoWire

Baertschi announced his retirement Wednesday, per Gregory Beaud of Blink.ch. Taken with the No. 13 overall pick in the 2011 NHL Draft, Baertschi went on to record 66 goals, 136 points and 78 PIM in 292 contests with the Flames, Canucks and Golden Knights. At his height in 2016-17, he scored 18 goals and 35 points in 68 outings with Vancouver. However, he logged just seven NHL games in the span of three seasons from 2019-20 through 2021-22. The 30-year-old contributed four goals and 14 points in 36 appearances with Bern of the Swiss League last season.

  • Golden Knights' Sven Baertschi: Down to AHL
    By RotoWire

Baertschi was reassigned to AHL Henderson on Friday. Baertschi made his season (and Vegas) debut Thursday against Detroit, recording one shot in 13:54 of ice time. With four goals and four assists through eight games at AHL Henderson, he should be on the short list of call-ups the next time the Golden Knights need additional personnel.

  • Baertschi was recalled by Vegas on Tuesday. Jonathan Marchessault has entered the NHL's COVID-19 protocols, so Baertschi could draw into the lineup immediately for Tuesday's game versus the Hurricanes. Baertschi's picked up four goals and eight points through 12 AHL appearances this year.

  • Baertschi signed a one-year, two-way contract with the Golden Knights on Wednesday. Baertschi spent all of 2020-21 with AHL Utica, posting 14 points in 24 contests for the Canucks' minor-league affiliate. The Swiss winger will try to compete for a bottom-six job with the Golden Knights in training camp, but he's not likely to make the big club's roster.

  • Canucks' Sven Baertschi: Heading to minors
    By RotoWire

Baertschi was assigned to AHL Utica on Tuesday, Rick Dhaliwal of TSN 1040 Vancouver reports. The Canucks entered an agreement with the Jets to keep some minor-leaguers in Canada with AHL Manitoba, but Baertschi won't be one of them. It's unclear if the 28-year-old winger will report to Utica -- he has requested a trade, but he'll need to get playing time to maintain trade value. He'd like an NHL job as well, but he's not likely to see much more than bottom-six minutes even if his trade request is fulfilled.
