Caps Move Erskine To IR
Erskien (upper body) was placed on injured reserve Wednesday, Alex Prewitt of the Washington Post reports. The Capitals ruled Erskine out of the entirety of their three-game road trip to Western Canada earlier this week, so the IR move will allow the team to add another defenseman from the minors for depth purposes. Erskine had been a healthy scratch for the Capitals in every game even before succumbing to the injury.

Caps' Erskine To Miss Next Three Games
Erskine has an upper-body injury and will not join the Capitals for their three-game road trip beginning Wednesday.Erskine has been a healthy scratch all season for the Capitals, so it seems likely that he sustained the injury at some point during a recent practice. Since he hasn't been playing regularly for the Capitals anyway, his unavailability for the road trip shouldn't have an impact on coach Barry Trotz's lineup decisions.

After dealing with a concussion earlier this month, Erskine has been a healthy scratch the last seven games, Katie Carrera of the Washington Post reports. The Capitals have gone with Jack Hillen in the lineup while Erskine has remained in the press box those last seven games, but the two defensemen could trade places in Saturday's game.
