Joey Hishon will end his playing career in favor of joining the scouting ranks.Hishon will return to OHL Owen Sound, where spent his four-year junior career in the role of regional scout. After a pair of 80-plus point campaigns with the Attack, the center was selected 17th overall by the Avalanche in the 2010 NHL Draft. Unfortunately, the 26-year-old's transition to the professional ranks didn't exactly pan out and he logged a mere 13 games for Colorado. After two seasons overseas, the Ontario native will return to North America and take on an off-ice role.

Joey Hishon signed a two-year contract with Jokerit Helsinki of the KHL on Monday.Hishon's last NHL action came in 2014-15, so it appears he will instead pursue his professional career overseas. The deal if for two years and there's no mention of an NHL out clause so it's quite possible he won't be eligible to play in the US again until that contract runs out. the 24-year-old 2010 first-round pick notched 43 points over 62 games last season with AHL San Antonio.

Hishon Inks One-Year Deal With Avalanche
Hishon signed a one-year contract with the Avalanche on Monday.Hishon suited up for 13 games with the Avalanche last season, managing to tally two points (one goal, one assist) in those contests. He fared better with AHL Lake Erie, registering 36 points (16 goals, 20 assists) in 53 games with the team. The 23-year-old will get a chance to compete for a roster spot with the big club in training camp.
