Curtis Glencross has announced that he will retire at the age of 32, TSN's Darren Dreger reports.A related report suggests that Glencross made the decision to hang up his skates in order to spend more time with his family, and the winger doesn't see himself playing in Europe. His NHL career comes to a close after playing for the Ducks, Blue Jackets, Oilers, Flames and Capitals, posting 134 goals and 141 assists through 507 regular-season games.

Glencross was released from his professional tryout offer with the Avalanche Monday, NHL.com's Rick Sadowski reports.Glencross has had an eventful preseason. He initially signed a PTO with the Maple Leafs, but after failing to secure a roster spot with Toronto, he signed a PTO with Colorado. Now that he's been released from his PTO with the Avalanche, he'll likely need to wait until the season gets underway and the injury bug sets in before getting another look with an NHL club. The 32-year-old winger tallied 35 points in 71 games with Calgary and Washington last season.

Plans to play Tuesday
Glencross is scheduled to play in Tuesday's preseason game against the Flames, Mike Chambers of the Denver Post reports.The 32 year-old veteran signed a PTO contract with the Avalanche on Monday and will meet up with the team on Tuesday in Calgary. It's a convenient transition for Glencross who lives in Calgary and played for the Flames for six and a half seasons before being sent to Washington. It should also be noted that Glencross played with current Avs', Jerome Iginla and Alex Tanguay during his tenure in Calgary, although neither Iginla nor Tanguay will be playing in Tuesday's preseason game.
