Astros pitcher Samuel Deduno returned to the mound on Monday, throwing a 15-pitch live batting practice session.
Deduno has been on the disabled list with a lower-back strain. He started a minor league rehab assignment two weeks ago but got shut down after suffering a setback. Monday was his first time pitching to batters since then.
“I felt good,” he said, per the Houston Chronicle. “For it being the first day I felt good. I think the next step would be to go out and pitch somewhere on a rehab again.”
