It sounds like Aramis Ramirez expects to hear boos -- and plenty of them -- Monday when the Brewers play their first road game, traveling to Chicago to take on the Cubs at Wrigley Field.
Ryan Braun will be booed just about everywhere he goes this year after his positive drug test and subsequent successful appeal.
"I think it's going to be ugly for Braun everywhere we go," Ramirez told MLB.com. "On the road, it's going to be tough for him. He knows it. That's no secret. Plus, he got a taste of it in spring training. Everywhere we go, he was getting booed."
As for Ramirez, he sounds like he is prepared to be booed in Chicago, where he played the last nine seasons, even if he doesn't quite understand why.
"I want to know the reason why. What did I do?" he said (MLB.com). "But [Cubs] fans, they go to the park, and they do whatever they want."
Ramirez didn't have the best reputation among Cubs fans -- or announcers -- who had a perception of not always hustling. Ramirez noted he was booed when he returned to Pittsburgh in a Cubs uniform in 2003, even though he didn't ask to be traded. This time he was a free agent and Theo Epstein told him he wasn't wanted in Chicago. But still, he'll likely be booed -- because he's wearing a different uniform. It's stupid, but watch it happen.
