Mariners pitcher Brandon Maurer picked up the first win of his young career in Sunday's series finale against the Rangers. After posting a 16.20 ERA in his first two starts, the right-hander allowed three runs (two earned) on five hits over six innings of work in the 4-3 victory.

Maurer (1-2) gave up an RBI double to Mitch Moreland in the second for the only damage over his first four frames. The 22-year-old got tagged for a two-spot in the fifth.

He also struck out five and walked one while throwing 97 pitches, 61 for strikes.

Maurer will face Texas again in his next start, which is scheduled for Saturday.
