The Brewers have called up infielder Jeff Bianchi while pitcher Mark Rogers is on paternity leave, according to the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel’s Todd Rosiak.
Rogers is expected to rejoin the team on Wednesday. Until then, Bianchi will give the Brewers some help on the infield. Starting shortstop Jean Segura was “banged up” in a home plate collision last night, according to the Journal-Sentinel’s Tom Haudricourt. Segura remained in the game, and isn’t expected to miss any time.
Bianchi has hit .301/.359/.394 in 253 plate appearances at Triple-A this season. He was called up by the Brewers earlier this season, but he’s still looking for his first major-league hit.
