Jon Jay is getting some company on the Cardinals' disabled list is getting crowded, as the team placed Allen Craig and reliever Kyle McClellan on the disabled list before Friday's game with the Dodgers.
Craig, an outfielder and first baseman, played in just 13 games this season before ending up where he started -- the DL. Craig, 27, missed the first month of the season on the DL after undergoing November surgery on his knee. He suffered a left hamstring strain on Wednesday against the Giants.
McClellan left Thursday's game in San Francisco with right elbow pain. McClellan had Tommy John elbow surgery as a minor-leaguer in 2006. McClellan told the newspaper that he was feeling pain even when just trying to perform "routine household activities."
The Cardinals did get some good injury news, as the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports an MRI showed no damage to Carlos Beltran's ailing knee. He could return to the lineup as soon as Friday.
St. Louis called up outfielder Adron Chambers and right-hander Brandon Dickson to fill out their roster.
