Seattle Mariners outfielder Chone Figgins wants to be traded, saying, “I can’t take two more years of this,” according to John Hickey of SportsPressNW.com.
Next season, Figgins will be in the final year of a four-year, $36 million deal that has a vesting option of $9 million in 2014 based on Figgins recording 600 plate appearances.
Figgins signed the contract after hitting .298/.395/.393 with the Angels in 2009 at the age of 31. In three years with the Mariners, Figgins has hit .227/.302/.283 in 1,209 plate appearances, missing significant time in 2011 and 2012.
He hit .181/.262/.271 in 194 plate appearances this year.
