Yankees third baseman Eric Chavez exited Wednesday night's game against the Orioles with possible whiplash and concussion symptoms.
Chavez was initially hurt while diving for a J.J. Hardy double down the line. He was able to remain in the game, but during his plate appearance in the bottom of the fifth he appeared woozy and confused. He called for time and had to be helped off the field (pictured at right).
Marc Carig of the Newark Star-Ledger reports that Chavez has been transported to a nearby hospital for further testing.
Chavez is hitting .290/.303/.581 with three home runs in 33 plate appearances this season.
