It had been a while since Giants outfielder Justin Maxwell went deep. In fact, entering Friday's game against the Phillies, Maxwell had not homered since April 25 in Colorado. But that came to an end on Friday.
Maxwell, getting the start for the injured Hunter Pence, went 2 for 4 with his fourth home run of the season. His fourth-inning blast was a two-run shot that tied the game at three, and ended a 27-game homer-less drought. The Giants would go on to win 5-4.
