The San Francisco Giants are trying to add yet another outfielder and have been looking at the Phillies' Hunter Pence, but a Giants official denied a San Francisco TV report there was a deal "in place" pending approval by San Francisco ownership.
The Giants' new interest in an outfielder is curious. The Giants weren't originally believed to have money to spend at the deadline, but it's unclear whether something has changed on that front.
The Giants have been tied to Pence, Aramis Ramirez, Justin Morneau and Shane Victorino. Corey Hart would also fit for them.
It is believed they looked into carlos Quentin before he re-signed with the Padres.
The Giants acquired a full outfield of Melky Cabrera, Angel Pagan and Gregor Blanco last winter. But Pagan and Blanco have struggled a bit lately, and they may look to trade Nate Schierholz as well. Schierholtz is believed to have requested a trade.
