Red Sox right-hander Josh Beckett was slated to start Sunday against the Cubs in Wrigley, but now he's been scratched because of shoulder inflammation.
Manager Bobby Valentine tells the Boston Herald that no roster move is expected "for now," but of course a trip to the DL remains a possibility for Beckett. Still, Valentine classifies the injury as "nothing serious." Left-hander Franklin Morales will start Sunday in Beckett's stead.
On the season, Beckett has a 4.14 ERA in 78.1 innings. Morales has a 3.04 ERA, but he hasn't made a start since 2009, when he was with the Rockies.
