Orioles pitcher Kevin Gausman is not a candidate to be called up with the team in need of some pitching depth, according to manager Buck Showalter Thursday.
Showalter told reporters after Thursday's doubleheader against the Pirates Gausman is dealing with an intercostal strain, suffered while pitching at Triple-A Norfolk. The top prospect had a 2.53 ERA in his first five starts at Triple-A this season, and the extent of the injury is not yet known.
