Mariners closer Fernando Rodney gave up a run, but still managed to close the door on the Athletics in the ninth inning of Seattle's 4-3 win, earning his ninth save of the season.
With one out, Rodney served up a solo home run to Stephen Vogt over the right field wall to close the gap to one run. But Rodney didn't waver, as he got Ike Davis to fly out and struck out Coco Crisp to end the game.
Rodney moved his ERA to 5.40 in 13 1/3 innings of work with 14 strikeouts against seven walks.
