Mariners starter James Paxton is heading to the 15-day disabled list with a strained tendon in his middle finger, according to the Seattle Times.

Paxton exited his start on Thursday in the fifth inning with the injury. The team announced they have called up left-hander Dominic Leone from Triple-A to take Paxton's place on the roster. There is no timetable for Paxton's return at this time.

"We're going to go over it and make a plan going forward," Paxton said, per MLB.com. "Right now, I don't know anything more than I did last night, but I'll know more pretty soon here."
