<img alt= is still a Mariner, but he's not longer an everyday player, manager Eric Wedge told him and the media on Friday.
Figgins, 34, is hitting just .189/.250/.305 through his first 25 games -- numbers similar to the .188/.241/.243 line he put up in 2011 -- and has been demoted to a utility player, Wedge said (via Geoff Baker of the Seattle Times).
Replacing Figgins at the top of the order will be Dustin Ackley, not Ichiro Suzuki. The second-year second baseman is hitting .231/.291/.324 through 26 games.
Figgins is in the third year of a four-year, $36 million contract.
