Mets reliever Alex Torres was designated for assignment on Tuesday. Torres was acquired from the Padres right at the end of spring training, but he wound up struggling to the tune of a 3.15 ERA and a 1.515 WHIP over 34 1/3 innings of work.
The move was necessitated by the acquisition of reliever Eric O'Flaherty from the A's on Tuesday.
