Mets relief pitcher Alex Torres worked a perfect two innings out of the bullpen in Sunday's 1-0 loss to the Nationals.
Torres picked up three strikeouts in the sixth after Dillon Gee loaded the bases with no outs.
"I owe him way more than a steak dinner for that," said Gee to MLB.com. "I feel terrible that I left him in that spot. He was unbelievable. He came in and just dominated."
Torres has thrown 9 2/3 innings this season with a 2.79 ERA and 13 strikeouts.
"I'm just trying to get comfortable myself," Torres said. "Just try to make a pitch, hit a spot, throw the ball down and just make quality pitches."
