The Nationals have optioned reliever Erik Davis to Triple-A Syracuse Thursday in order to make room for Ross Detwiler.
Davis was called up at the beginning of June, and played in five games with the club. Through 4 1/3 innings, Davis had seven strikeouts and a 6.23 ERA.
