The Rangers optioned right-hander Nick Martinez to Double-A Frisco on Saturday, Fort Worth Star-Telegram.

Martinez allowed just one run over 7 1/3 innings in three Cactus League appearances this spring. He is expected to come back to the big-league club and start April 5 at Tampa Bay.
