- Pirates first baseman Casey McGehee left Sunday's game against the Giants with a mild left groin strain, tweets the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review's Rob Biertempfel.
- McGehee, batting fifth in the lineup, had three hits -- improving his batting average nine points from .243 to .252 -- and two RBI before he was forced to leave the game.
- In St. Louis, Marlins third baseman Hanley Ramirez left the game in the bottom of the sixth with a right finger laceration, reports MLB.com's Joe Frisaro.
- Ramirez had been struggling mightily on the Marlins' recent road trip, with only two hits in his last 22 at-bats.
- After shutting out the Mets 7-0 in Ryan Dempster's return to the Cubs starting rotation, Chicago announced Dempster and Paul Maholm will switch spots after the All-Star break. Maholm will start on July 13, and Dempster will start on July 14, tweets MLB.com's Carrie Muskat.
