Orioles manager Buck Showalter will take a leave of absence near the end of April so that he can attend a memorial service for his late father-in-law, according to MLB.com.
Showalter's father-in-law passed away on Thursday.
Showalter is expected to take the time off beginning around April 25. The Orioles are scheduled to host the Red Sox that particular weekend. The service for Showalter's father-in-law is in Nashville.
The Orioles opened the season 2-1 and began this weekend's series against the Blue Jays Friday afternoon.
