In his first game since his perfect game, White Sox right-hander Philip Humber was anything but perfect against the Red Sox.
Humber walked the first batter he faced, Mike Aviles, and gave up a hit to the third batter he faced, Dustin Pedroia. The fourth batter he faced dashed his hopes of even a shutout, as Adrain Gonzaelz doubled in a run and then David Ortiz singled in another run.
But as bad as the first inning was for Humber, the third was worse. After a perfect second, Humber gave up a hit and two walks before Kevin Youkilis hit a grand slam. Jarrod Saltalamacchia followed with a homer of his own, giving Boston a 7-1 lead.
Humber, who was so efficient in his perfect game, threw 79 pitches though three innings -- allowing six hits and walking three, while striking out three. He needed just 96 pitches for nine innings on Saturday. His final line: 5 IP, 8 H, 9 R (all earned), 3 BB, 5 Ks, 3 HR, 115 pitches, 74 strikes.
