Notes on three Rangers on Thursday morning from the Fort Worth Star-Telegram:
- Right-handed reliever Mike Adams will be shut down for two or three days as he recovers from lingering right shoulder soreness. Adams said the soreness limited him in such a way that, "it felt like I was almost shot-putting the ball." Although Adams has a 2.96 ERA, this has been a down year by his standards -- that would be his highest mark since breaking back into the majors in 2008.
- Left-handed reliever Robbie Ross threw a 28-pitch bullpen session without incident and could be ready to return Friday, his first day eligible to come off the disabled list. The lefty suffered a forearm injury Aug. 30. In 60.2 innings, the rookie owns a 1.78 ERA and a 1.95 K/BB.
- Catcher Mike Napoli is slated to play one more game at Double-A Frisco on Friday before returning to the majors. Napoli homered and played the full nine innings at catcher for Frisco on Wednesday; he is expected to DH in Friday's contest.
