Earlier on Tuesday, the Rangers called up left-hander Martin Perez, presumably to help out a bullpen that was forced to pitch eight innings on Monday. But later in the day the team announced the move to make room for Perez and that was placing right-hander Colby Lewis on the 15-day disabled list with tendinitis in his right forearm.
Perez was scheduled to start Tuesday for Triple-A Round Rock and could still appear in tonight's game with the Tigers, but it looks like he'd be in line to start Saturday.
Lewis joins a crowded Ranger disabled list, joining fellow starters Neftali Feliz (elbow), Derek Holland (shoulder) and Alexi Ogando (groin). Left-hander Matt Harrison is dealing with a back injury, but is probably for his start on Friday. Right-hander Scott Feldman is scheduled to start on Thursday, in Lewis' spot in the rotation.
Texas has used nine different starting pitchers through 74 games this season.
