UPDATE (5:00 PM ET): According to Sean McAdam of CSNNE.com, the Dodgers are the team that has claimed Beckett.
Red Sox starting pitcher Josh Beckett has been claimed off waivers by an unknown team, CBSSports.com's Jon Heyman has learned.
Beckett, who is in the second year of a four-year, $68 million contract, is 5-11 with a 5.23 ERA and 1.33 WHIP in 21 starts, has allowed 18 earned runs in 16.1 innings over three starts in August.
Beckett retains the right to veto any trade based on his status as a 10-and-5 player. It is unclear whether he would welcome a trade.
If the Red Sox and the unidentified team can't work out a trade, letting Beckett go for nothing other than salary relief could be an option for the Red Sox organization.
