After a pair of impressive outings, Red Sox starter Wade Miley reverted back to his earlier struggles in his latest start. On Tuesday against the White Sox, Miley allowed five runs on 13 hits over 6 2/3 innings. He walked one and struck out three in the 5-4 loss.
Miley (10-10, 4.51 ERA) allowed a run in the second inning, but the Red Sox took a 2-1 lead in the third. Miley allowed the White Sox to tie the game in the fourth.
Boston was able to grab a two-run lead in the sixth, but Miley allowed three more runs in the seventh, and the Red Sox were out of rallies.
Miley has been able to go deep into games, as he has gone at least six innings in seven of his last eight starts. But he has allowed five or more runs three times in those eight outings.
