The Reds have recalled pitchers Carlos Contreras and Donovan Hand from Triple-A Louisville, and optioned outfielder Brennan Boesch to Triple-A, the team announced on Tuesday.
Contreras appeared in three games with the Reds earlier this season, allowing one earned run in 3 1/3 innings. With Triple-A, he owns a 4.66 ERA in 19 1/3 innings.
Hand hasn't thrown a big-league pitch since 2013. He has been pitching in Triple-A after signing a minor-league deal with the Reds in January. In 15 games, he owns a 4.50 ERA over 44 innings pitched.
Boesch has struggled this season in a part-time role with the Reds. In 56 at-bats, he's batting just .125 with one extra-base hit.
