Brewers right fielder Corey Hart had arthroscopic surgery to remove torn cartilage in his right knee March 6. Now, on April 2, Hart appears ready to join the Brewers on opening day. Manager Ron Roenicke told reporters Monday Hart will be on the active roster to open the season.
"He's ready," said Roenicke (jsonline.com). "He's acutally pretty excited."
The decision was made after Hart played five straight days in spring action with no significant setbacks.
Hart, 30, hit .285/.356/.510 with 26 homers and 80 runs scored last season in 130 games. The two-time All-Star takes on even greater importance in the Brewers' lineup this season with the departure of Prince Fielder.
