The Dodgers are interested in Pirates reliever Joel Hanrahan, according to Buster Olney of ESPN.
With Jason Grilli in the fold, Pittsburgh can now turn its attention to dealing Hanrahan. At the winter meetings, the club “made it clear” that Hanrahan would be available in a deal. While the Dodgers have made plenty of moves since the trade deadline, they’ve signed only one significant reliever in Brandon League.
There are some signs of concern with Hanrahan, however. The 31-year-old reliever slipped a bit last season. He struggled with walks, posting his worst walk rate since 2007. He was also plagued by home runs. Hanrahan had a strong 2.72 ERA, but his 4.45 FIP is worrisome.
