In the wake of the Melky Cabrera suspension, the Giants will use Gregor Blanco as the team's regular left fielder, according to the San Jose Mercury-News' Alex Pavlovic.

Blanco has hit .236/.331/.346 with 19 stolen bases in 350 plate appearances this season.

Pavlovic also tweeted that the Giants want to give prospect outfielder Gary Brown a full season at Double-A. It is not clear at this time whether the Cabrera suspension will accelerate Brown's timetable. To be eligible for postseason play, Brown will have to be promoted before Sept. 1.

CBSSports.com's Jon Heyman reported Monday that Alfonso Soriano has cleared trade waivers and could be an option for the Giants. Soriano himself has said that he's still not interested in playing in San Francisco, according to the Chicago Tribune's Paul Sullivan.
