Update 8/19/12: Kevin Correia has been moved to the bullpen for the second time this season, according to Tom Singer of MLB.com.
The Pittsburgh Pirates have plans to make changes to their starting rotation this weekend, according to the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review's Rob Biertempfel.
The club, which had been using a six-man rotation, has yet to announce its starters for the series against the Padres, which starts Monday.
James McDonald, who had been a key player for the Pirates in the first half of the year with a 9-3 record, 2.37 ERA and 0.97 WHIP before the All-Star break, posted an 8.76 ERA in his first six starts after the break. He was a candidate to move to the bullpen, according to Biertempfel, before tossing six scoreless innings against the Cardinals on Friday.
Jeff Karstens, who is 4-3 with a 3.91 ERA and 1.20 WHIP in 12 starts this season, is the other likely bullpen candidate.
