The Red Sox plan to promote infielder Danny Valencia and pitchers Pedro Beato and Zach Stewart on Friday, according to CSNNE.com's Maureen Mullen.
Valencia, who was acquired from the Twins for Jeremias Pineda in August, has hit .194/.206/.299 in 141 major-league plate appearances this season, with nine of those plate appearances coming with the Red Sox. Valencia hit .311 with the Twins in 2010 during his rookie season.
Beato, who was the player to be named in the deal that sent Kelly Shoppach to the Mets, has a 9.95 ERA and 1.74 WHIP in eight major-league appearances this year. He has made just one appearance with the Red Sox, allowing two earned runs in two innings against the Royals on Aug. 26.
Stewart, who was acquired from the White Sox along with Brent Lillibridge for Kevin Youkilis in June, is 1-3 in 19 apperances (two starts) with a 7.91 ERA and 1.67 WHIP this year. He has been traded in three of the last four seasons: from Cincinnati to Toronto in 2009, from Toronto to Chicago in 2011 and from Chicago to Boston this year.
