The Reds and Diamondbacks are discussing a potential Lyle Overbay trade, Jon Morosi of Fox Sports reports.
Overbay was designated for assignment Monday by the Diamondbacks after going 2-for-25 in his previous 15 games. Prior to that stretch, Overbay had a 1.023 OPS on the season and has a history of hitting right-handed pitching well.
Overbay could be a stopgap solution for the Reds, who are dealing with an injury to Joey Votto. The Reds' superstar currently has no timetable to return from his torn meniscus.
