Wednesday roster moves from the Red Sox, Rays and Reds:
- The Red Sox optioned reliever Clayton Mortensen to Triple-A Pawtucket to make room for newly-acquired reliever Craig Breslow, Alex Speier of WEEI reported. Mortensen has a 1.17 ERA in 23 games for Boston, striking out 17 against 7 walks -- it's the fourth lowest ERA in club history (minimum 20 IP). Still, neither his peripherals (3.65 FIP) nor history (4.35 career ERA) suggest he's quite this good.
- The Rays optioned reliever Josh Lueke to Triple-A Durham, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reported. Lueke has appeared in just three games with the Rays, allowing seven runs on nine hits over 3.1 innings. The Rays are expected to recall a position player prior to Friday's game.
- The Reds shuffled their roster to accomodate Jonathan Broxton's arrival, the club announced via Twitter. Todd Redmond was optioned to Triple-A Louisville to make room on the 25-man roster and Mike Costanzo was designated for assignment to open a spot on the 40-man roster.
