Royals reliever Jason Frasor earned his first win of the season in Sunday's 2-1 victory over the Tigers.
Frasor had to warm up twice Sunday after a rain delay pushed back the beginning of the ninth inning Sunday. He then faced Miguel Cabrera and Victor Martinez to open the bottom of the ninth, letting both get on base with a walk and a single. After recording a pair of outs, he issued another walk, but was able to get James McCann to pop out to end the inning and send the game into extra innings.
"[Jason] did a phenomenal job getting through that," manager Ned Yost said, per MLB.com. "I wasn't worried about it if he hadn't gotten hot the first time, and then had to sit down. But he had to get hot [again], then come in and face Cabrera, Martinez."
Frasor has allowed two runs (one earned) on 10 hits and seven walks in 11 1/3 innings while striking out nine.
"Frasor has been a guy that we like to bring on in the middle of an inning and stop the bleeding," Yost said. "And he's done it tremendously with his experience, his competitiveness. He doesn't panic when he gets out there on the mound in those situations."
